Challenge
Finding a curated selection of high quality shoes, or trying to find that one pair of limited edition sneakers from 3 years ago can soon become a tedious and expensive endeavour. I wanted to create a conceptual consignment brand that brought together a community of footwear lovers to connect with one another in the sale of vintage, limited edition or high-quality pre-loved shoes that had a distinct visual style and a core of sustainability.
Solution
The name Sole Vine came fromthe idea of passing shoes ‘through the vine’ to limit waste created by discarded footwear and create an online community of shoe-lovers ready to be a part of the sustainability cycle.
This project used photography and branding to create web, social and product mock-ups to showcase the vision for this organisation and its operations. True to the sustainability at the heart of Sole Vine, visuals were created from start to finish using the shoes I had on hand. Photographing my pairs to capture the look and feel of the brand meant getting creative in how they were framed, styled and eventually designed with to create a distinct visual story for the brand. Using layout design, I created a web mockup showcasing the online marketplace featuring pieces that were truly unique, emphasising the pairs' quality and uniqueness. I further developed packaging including shoeboxes, socks, protective soles and tissue paper that would be used in the process of passing on shoes to new owners.
Shoes that didn't come in their original packaging would be provided in Sole Vine branded boxes with protective tissue paper around the shoes, but also on the soles for when the buyers first try on the pair. Additionally, each pair would come with Sole Vine socks to limit the need for re-cleaning if the shoes got returned after try-on.
